“providing academic stimulation for lower school scholars and others”

The Hayman Society

The Hayman Society exists to stimulate and stretch Year 9–11 academic scholars by means of a programme of activities outside the classroom. Pupils who are not scholars but perform very well academically and exhibit a high level of intellectual curiosity may also be invited to join the society.

The Hayman Society meets several times a term. Formal meetings are addressed by members of staff and outside speakers, while trips to London and elsewhere allow members of the society to attend concerts and visit museums, theatres and galleries. Other activities have included a gifted and talented workshop entitled ‘the art of good argument’ and the popular Christmas quiz and New Year ‘brain games’ evenings.
