The Hayman Society

The Hayman Society exists to stimulate and stretch Year 9–11 academic scholars by means of a distinct programme of activities that takes place both within and beyond the curricular timetable . Pupils who are not scholars but perform very well academically and exhibit a high level of intellectual curiosity may also be invited to join the society.

Hayman Society members meet weekly during normal curricular time in years 9 and 10 and once a fortnight in Y11. They are provided with a bespoke and flexible programme of varied, challenging and creative intellectual stimuli. Additionally, extra-curricular activities support and enrich this programme. The Society aims to develop a mutually supportive and very dynamic environment in which a love of scholarship is nurtured and where pupils are increasingly encouraged to pursue areas of particular personal interest.
