Across the curriculum there are groups of pupils for whom the mainstream provision may be insufficient.

Across the curriculum there are those whose ability places them outside the normal range for that group. This may be both at the top and the bottom of a mixed ability geography group or it may be within a top-set maths group which contains the highest fliers. It may be on the sports field or in the arenas of art, design, drama and music.
In addition to the mainstream curriculum these groups are supported by the Learning Support Department, the Department for EAL and the Gifted and Talented Programme.
Within the classroom, teachers are very alert to the needs of those with identified needs and are vigilant to monitor the progress of all pupils. Great care is taken to ensure that, whatever the needs of an individual, stretch and challenge are provided through differentiated expectations, tasks and outcomes.
