Educational activities

College activities related to education in the academic year 2009/10  include the following:
  • Music days for local primary and other feeder schools – Jazz Day, Choral Day and Strings Day.
  • Every May the Head of Drama co-ordinates (and in some years hosts) the Eastbourne Schools Shakespeare Festival, which involves ten Eastbourne schools.
  • Troupes of College pupils visit feeder schools (maintained and independent) to generate interest in drama and teach it.
  • Art Teachers’ Days run at the College by the art department.
  • Art department visits to local primary and other feeder schools.
  • Modern Languages competition day for local feeder schools.
  • A Latin GCSE course run by a member of the Classics department to some of Ratton School's 'talented and gifted' pupils.
  • Oxbridge Conference hosted by the College with local secondary schools attending.
  • Open air 'Swing band' concert as part of St Wilfred's Hospice Christmas Magic weekend in Terminus Road. 
  • Pupil involvement in the Wakehurst Seeds Project - a national research project regarding viability of seeds at Wakehurst Place.
  • Annual French and German exchange programmes.
  • The College hosts visiting students, enriching the lives of College pupils and those visiting.
  • Members of staff serve as governors of local schools.
