“strong links with local churches and music groups ”

Community activities

The College has strong links with local churches, music groups and other organisations.  Particular initiatives are listed below.
  • A choral concert takes place in Chichester cathedral each year: organised by College staff, it involves about 120 singers and players from outside the College.
  • College facilities are used for rehearsals by the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra and for their annual young soloist competition; concerts organised by College staff and performed in various venues are open to the general public.
  • The College chapel is used weekly by Eastbourne Symphony Chorus to rehearse.
Regular Sunday chapel services are open to the public, as are the carol service and Christmas Day service. Residents of the Chaseley Trust (a charity for the disabled) attend the annual Advent carol service.
  • Evensong is sung by the College choir at Winchester and Chichester Cathedrals.
  • The College Orchestra performs for the public in St Saviour’s Church, Eastbourne.
Music department concerts held on site are open to the public.
  • The Wargrave Warblers, a house singing group, visit Redmond King and other homes for the elderly.
  • Involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and use of Long Room for Eastbourne Area AGM.
  • Twenty marshals are provided to help at the annual Eastbourne half marathon.
  • Craig House is used each week by All Saints’ Sunday School.
  • All Saints’ PCC meetings are held in the Long Room.
  • All Souls’ Youth Activity group is run by two College staff; the group has the use of a school minibus and some sports facilities, such as the gym and squash courts, on a regular basis.
  • College staff preach at local primary and prep schools such as St. Johns, Brambletye, St Andrew’s, Vinehall.
  • The College Catering Manager and another member of the support staff are both active crew members of the local RNLI.
