Educating Children

Students' education has an enduring charitable benefit in terms of the academic progress they achieve, the qualifications they gain, the work that they will do, the citizens that they will become and the way in which they will work with and for others throughout their lives.

Eastbourne College is a co-educational school that currently has 626 pupils aged 13–18, with a boarding to day ratio approaching 50:50 and a girl to boy ratio close to 40:60. The College educates day pupils from 08:00 to 20:30 on weekdays and a large proportion of most weekends in term time; boarders receive 24 hours a day, 7 days a week care and educational development.

During 2007/8, Eastbourne College will educate 626 pupils. By educating these children in the independent sector, it is estimated that the Government’s purse will save nearly £3,000,000 for the academic year 2007/8. The net tax benefits of charitable status to the College for the same period are estimated to be around £110,000 for the same period.
