There are a number of different areas that are available for hire and details are summarised below:

The Donald Perrens Foyer and exhibition area
The area is split into two levels: the lower area covers 119m² and the upper area covers 41m². There is a space for serving drinks and a ticket booth on the upper level.

The Jennifer Winn Auditorium
The auditorium has been acoustically designed to cater for the highest quality musical recitals, concerts and other events. There is a lighting and control box at the back of the auditorium and a link to the recording studio beneath.

The performance space is 90m². With a magnificent sprung floor it is an ideal space for dance workshops, small musicals and other theatrical events.

The main auditorium has fixed seating on three sides for 160, with space for a further 40 movable seats that can be placed on the auditorium floor. There is also standing room in the gallery on the floor above.

The Simon Eckert Recording Studio
On the ground floor, the fully-equipped studio comprises a number of different rooms including

• the rehearsal/recording room of 83m²
• a control room of 21m²
• a percussion room of 27m²
• a vocal booth
• Other facilities in the building include a rock/drum room, specialised teaching and rehearsal rooms, and two music technology suites.    

Location
The Birley Centre is conveniently located on the corner of College Road and Carlisle Road, directly opposite the Towner Gallery and the Congress.  Please click here for directions and a map. The centre is only 10 minutes walk from Eastbourne train station and for those travelling by car, there are two pay and display car parks on College Road.

Availability and rates
The Birley Centre is available for hire by outside lets throughout the year but please note that during term time, the school will have priority.  During the holidays, availability will be greater and there will be far more opportunities.  For any inquiries concerning availability please contact the Events and Box Officer Manager by email, phone or via the website.
