A lasting gift
Generations of Eastbournians will benefit from the generosity of the Devonshire Society. Since the foundation of the Society in August 2002, over one hundred people have made Eastbourne College a beneficiary of their Will, and in so doing have become members of the Society. Click here to see a list of members.
To date the members have provided: £2.6m in legacy pledges and £221,500 in legacies received.
In appreciation, all members are invited to a social gathering each year as guests of the Headmaster. Read about the day at Chatsworth in October 2006, and Devonshire Society Day at the College in 2008.
How do I join the Devonshire Society?
Please contact the Foundation office to request an explanatory booklet, pledge card and details of our Free Will scheme. All legacies of whatever size will benefit the College and will
- provide bursaries and scholarships
- ensure that future generations continue to benefit from the best possible educational facilities
For example, the Rule bequest provided the Rule Centre for Mathematics and Information Technology, and the Scoresby-Jackson bequest provides a Science Scholarship each year. Eastbourne College is a registered charity therefore
- your legacy will be free of Inheritance tax
- gifts of shares or property will be exempt from Capital Gains Tax
