The Birley Centre

This is a whole school facility with
  • auditorium which can seat up to 300
  • state-of-the-art music school
  • recording studio
  • specialised teaching rooms and rehearsal space
  • gallery and exhibition area
  • bar and catering facilities for events

The Birley Centre is the first significant project in the College's A vision for the future plan.  

The Birley Centre is situated on Carlisle Road, close to the new Towner Gallery and Congress Theatre and provides a key facility, not only for the school but also for the local community, in this cultural quarter of Eastbourne.  It is named in recognition of the contribution to the College of Michael Birley (Headmaster 1956-70) and his wife Ann.  The clearing of the current music facilities at the back of Big School (College Theatre) will free up essential space and enable the next stage of development.
