The competition in all age groups was stiff. Facing some very strong swimming schools, the College teams did very well to be placed where they were. Ten races were swum during the course of the championship with the senior boys' team gaining bronze medals for an impressive swim in the medley relay. College teams were placed fourth in seven of the races swum and fifth in the two remaining events.
During the course of the day 14 new personal bests were set by College swimmers and many best times of the season recorded, three of which were new school records: two from Pascale Davies, who broke the 50m freestyle record as well as her own 50m breaststroke record (set before half term), and one from Josh Pankhurst, who beat his own backstroke record. The last two records had stood for five years before the start of this term!
Master-in-charge of swimming Mr Fellows and swimming coach Mr Allchorn were very proud of what the team achieved, as indeed the swimmers themselves should be.The results certainly bode well for next term at the new Weald and Downland Trophy Gala and at the Bath Cup.
