Director of Drama

The College seeks to appoint an exceptional individual to lead and inspire in this pivotal role at the heart of the College’s creative and cultural provision.

The Post

The successful applicant will be an experienced leader of young people and adults and an accomplished teacher, actor, producer or director in his or her own right. S/he will have experience of teaching GCSE and A-level drama and a proven track record of creative/cultural leadership and will be able to nurture and stretch the most able whilst also making drama accessible and enjoyable for all. The successful applicant will be a motivational advocate for the creative arts and be passionate about the benefit drama can bring to the development of young people. S/he will want to foster a love of theatre in all members of the College community.

It is expected that the Director of Drama will make a contribution to the teaching of academic drama or dance. This will normally be in the region of half a full academic timetable.

Performance Spaces

Drama facilities are excellent. College Theatre seats 284 and is at the heart of the school. It is used throughout the year for College productions and a full programme of visiting professional productions as well as numerous house concerts and revues. A new foyer and circulation space for College Theatre has been created as part of Project 150.

The Le Brocq theatre seats 120 and is used for day-to-day teaching, smaller productions and presentations. The Dell Theatre is an outdoor performance space seating 90 and is used in the summer festival week for the Lower Sixth play and other smaller scale events while the Jennifer Winn auditorium in the Birley Centre also provides a versatile space with an acoustically-designed, 160-seater auditorium with sprung floor.

College drama is supported by a full-time technician and a part-time (term time) technician / wardrobe supervisor.

Salary and Conditions

The College has its own salary scale and the successful applicant will be remunerated at a level representing their skills and qualifications. Specifics of this can be discussed with the Headmaster at interview.

Head of Learning Enrichment and SENCo

The College seeks to appoint a dynamic, collaborative and enthusiastic Head of Learning Enrichment from September 2021. This role will incorporate that of Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) The right person will have a marvellous opportunity to work in a stimulating environment where resources, buildings, colleagues and pupils all strengthen the process of teaching and learning.

The Post
The Head of Learning Enrichment will take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the College’s provision for pupils with specific learning needs. This may be by providing for those pupils with learning difficulties, but working alongside the Head of Enrichment, may also involve supporting those who are gifted or talented, seeking ways in which to nurture and develop their skills. The Head of Learning Enrichment will provide professional guidance to pupils and colleagues in order to secure the highest quality provision such that all pupils are able to achieve their full academic potential.

The Head of Learning Enrichment will also act as the College’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo) and will be expected to be qualified as such.

He or she will be able to cope with administration competently yet speedily, leaving him or her free to concentrate on inspiring teachers and motivating young people. The Head of Learning Enrichment will have opportunity to take the time to reflect and plan, and when appropriate they will be able genuinely to enjoy the exuberant life of the College. All members of the Common Room are expected to play an additional part in the boarding life of the school, e.g. by acting as tutors in one of the day or boarding houses, by offering their expertise in coaching team sports, or contributing to music, drama, debating etc.

The College has its own salary scale and the successful applicant will be placed on the scale at a level commensurate with their qualifications and skills. There is also a generous responsibility allowance for this important management role. Accommodation may be available for single or married applicants, including those with families. NON-ACADEMIC VACANCIES 

 

Admissions Assistants

We are looking for three Admissions Assistants to join the ECi Marketing and Admissions team. 

  • 2 x full time (all year round)
  • 1 x part time (all year round, 2-3 days per week, preferably Monday, Tuesday and Friday but open to discussion)

These roles will be employed with Eastbourne College Incorporated (ECi) rather than an individual school to ensure both teams benefit from the support. That said, the part time role will commence their training and role in St Andrew’s Prep and the full time roles respectively at Eastbourne College.

It is a really exciting time to join the ECi Marketing and Admissions team with lots of great initiatives in the plan for 2021.

Job Summary      

To work as part of the Admissions Department team in the recruitment of new pupils and enrolment to the charity. The position requires excellent communication skills and initiative; the individual needs to be intelligent, approachable, efficient, enthusiastic and hard working. Strong inter-personal skills are essential. They will need the confidence to be able to interact positively with a wide range of different people both externally and on a College-wide daily basis. It is essential that the individual has an intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook as well as the ability to learn internal systems quickly and efficiently. This role may include cross-charity working.

Duties and Responsibilities

Admissions correspondence:

  • correspondence with prospective parents
  • mailing of College literature to enquirers
  • taking telephone calls, photocopying and filing
  • replies to general correspondence (emails and letters)
  • ordering printed forms, booklets and stock control
  • collating prospectuses and new pupil information packs
  • preparing routine mailings as per the annual admissions calendar

Admissions data maintenance:

  • daily input and maintenance of enquirer and prospective pupil details on the pupil database (PASS and Isams)
  • adherence to all GDPR requirements
  • archiving admissions files
  • helping to maintain relevant website pages and online documents
  • assisting with the generation of various admissions-related reports (e.g. enquiries, visits, registrations, competitor analysis)

Admissions events and visits:

  • assisting with the organisation of prospective family visits
  • assisting with the planning of scholarship days, entrance exams etc.
  • assisting with the setting up for open mornings, information evenings and other similar events as required (NB this may very occasionally involve some additional hours in the evenings or at weekends, for which time can be taken in lieu)

International Admissions:

  • entry point of contact for all pupil enquiries, and handling the processing of such enquiries
  • correspondence with educational agents – email, telephone and post
  • arranging testing and family visits
  • issuing offers on behalf of senior leadership
  • collating and checking receipt of new international pupil information & documentation, particularly in relation to UKVI
  • ensuring the Tier 4 processes are adhered to at all times

General:

  • the post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact will be to adhere to and ensure compliance with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy Statement at all times
  • if in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the post holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School s/he must report any concerns to the School’s Designated Safeguarding Lead or, if he/she is the School’s DSL, to the headmaster and relevant agencies

Social Media and Marketing Assistant

(12-month fixed term contract)

Responsible to Director of Marketing and Admissions (DMA). Day to day you will be working very closely with the Marketing Lead for each school.

Job Summary

As Social Media and Marketing Assistant you will act as brand guardian across all social channels with a focus on building brand awareness, growing our follower base and engaging with the different audiences. Our social media platforms act as a crucial ‘shop window’ opportunity for both schools, consequently the role is both creative and commercially orientated.

Duties

Planning:

  • together with the DMA and Marketing Managers, develop the ECi social media strategy to protect brand reputation and drive brand awareness, engagement and performance
  • working closely with Marketing Manager’s and other teaching staff, be responsible for the creation of the social media annual plan aligned with the marketing and admissions calendar, global milestones and community activity
  • integration with school directories to maximize content opportunities

Campaigns / Engagement:

  • drafting and scheduling posts for our various social accounts
  • working with the ECi Content creator and external agencies, deliver innovative and relevant content
  • help in the planning and implementation of thought leadership content
  • help manager Paid Social campaigns with a focus on optimising social channel performance to deliver best in class ROI
  • to actively engage with social communities at all times

Brand:

  • responsible for managing and ensuring all social content is consistent and aligned with brand guidelines
  • ensure social media sites are kept up to date at all times and visual imagery is ‘on brand’

Reporting:

  • keeping up to date and informing the team on current social media trends, and digital best in class campaigns.
  • work with tracking tools to report and deliver weekly, monthly and campaign KPIs
  • recommend tools to track brand sentiment and community engagement, and oversee implementation and ongoing monitoring

Marketing / website:

  • ensure website content is up to date and relevant
  • there might be times at ‘peak periods’ to help with broader marketing tasks

General:

  • experience of developing and delivering always-on content as well as excellent social campaigns
  • experience of managing multiple projects, briefs, and stakeholders
  • experience of growing user interaction across social platforms
  • analysis and reporting of key metrics
  • strong copywriting skills and ability to write effective social copy
  • strong communication skills, must be fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • strong understanding and passion for social media including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn
