Athletics Day 2016
On the last day of term the pupils and staff caught a quick lunch before transferring to the Eastbourne Sports Park for the fifth annual Eastbourne College Athletics Day.
The weather threatened all afternoon but in the end complied and the event went ahead under a mixture of leaden grey and bright blue skies. The houses competed in a range of track and field events at the junior, intermediate and senior level.
Several school records fell:
Chase Sutherland (Year 9, Watt) – junior girls 100m
Lauren Bennett (Year 10, Arnold) – intermediate girls shot-put
Adelaide O’Conor (Year 12, Nugent) – senior girls 100m hurdles
Brad Evans (Year 13, Gonville) – senior boys javelin
Walter Huchu (Year 12, Gonville) – senior boys 110m hurdles
