Bath Festival

Just after the end of the Lent term, the Eastbourne College 1st XI boys hockey team finished off their successful season with three wins from four matches at the Bath Festival.

A 2-1 win over Watford Grammar started the Festival in a positive fashion with James Edwards and Oli Morss Davies scoring goals. The afternoon match versus the Forest School saw Eastbourne dominate the game from the start. With two goals each from both George and James Edwards, as well as goals from Ben Hughes, Arthur Pickard, Matt Pusey, Charlie Reynolds and Will Wright, Eastbourne outplayed the opposition and finished as comfortable 9-2 winners.

The first game on the Sunday morning was against Solihull School. This was a very tight match with very little between the sides. James Edwards finished off a good passing move to put Eastbourne in front and Jack Casebourne made a number of fine saves in goal but couldn’t keep Solihull from scoring twice in the second half.

The final match on Sunday afternoon against Haberdashers’ Aske’s School saw Eastbourne play some fantastic attacking hockey. Ben Hughes scored twice, including the goal of the season, and Ben Fox, Joe Pocklington and Charlie Reynolds all scored as Eastbourne won 5-2.

The whole squad were excellent ambassadors, both on and off the pitch, resulting in the College being invited to participate in the Festival again next year.
