Today, we celebrate the stories behind our A-level results, as this year’s leavers progress to an impressive range of destinations, from universities in the UK and US to apprenticeships and beyond.
With 85 per cent securing their chosen university, pathways for this year’s leavers include Oxbridge and medicine, as well as STEM and the creative arts.
Across this year’s cohort of 117 pupils, there is plenty to celebrate in the results themselves too. Grade A was the most frequently awarded grade, with one in five pupils achieving straight A* and A grades.
These achievements span a curriculum of 30 A-level subjects, alongside three different types of Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and additional sixth-form courses including the Arts Award and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment Level 2 Fundamentals of Financial Services qualification.
RESULTS HIGHLIGHTS
Standout performances in the creative arts, mathematics, sciences and languages are among the highlights in this year’s results.
Creative subjects have delivered particularly impressive outcomes. Across art, photography and textiles, 86 per cent of grades are A* or A, including 55 per cent at A*. These results reinforce the strength of our creative arts pathway, recognised by our Artsmark Platinum Award.
There are also excellent results in further mathematics, where 69 per cent of grades are A* or A and 92 per cent are A* to B. In physics, 67 per cent of grades are A* or A.
Languages provide another area of strength, with 73 per cent of grades awarded A* or A. Latin, Classical Greek, German, Spanish and French continue to thrive at Eastbourne College, despite a reported decline in language study nationally.
INDIVIDUAL AMBITIONS, SHARED SUCCESS
Behind the results are individual stories that reflect different ambitions and the broad choice of subjects and opportunities at Eastbourne College, demonstrating there is no single route to success.
James has secured his place to read classics at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, while Mana will take her creative ambitions to University of Arts London, where she will study Ceramic Design. Harinee, who achieved two A*s and an A, will continue her studies in Medicine at Hull York Medical School.

The range of destinations continues with Tom, who is progressing to an apprenticeship, while Dan has secured a scholarship to study at University of South Carolina in the United States. Hanhan, who achieved three A*s and an A, will study Economics at Warwick University.
“The sport at Eastbourne College has allowed me to develop beyond measure, and with the aid of fantastic coaching as well as external rugby opportunities, I have been able to secure a scholarship to university in the US.”

DISCOVER OUR SIXTH FORM
Our Sixth Form offers 30 A-level subjects alongside a broad academic, creative and co-curricular programme. Small classes and high levels of teacher contact are complemented by opportunities beyond the timetable, including optional Saturday sessions, EPQs, Arts Award and financial literacy courses.
Our next Sixth Form Open Evening takes place on 17 September from 5.30pm, giving prospective pupils and their families the opportunity to experience the College, explore our subjects and wider opportunities available, and learn more about scholarships and bursaries.
