Headmaster’s Commendations Dec 2015

The Headmaster is pleased to commend the following pupils:

Thivya Kularajan (Year 12 Watt) for her dedication and commitment to the MA Children’s Home in Sri Lanka, for whom she organised a very successful fundraising charity revue.  It was a magnificent achievement and testament to her charm and determination that she enlisted a broad range of talented musicians’ and sketch writers, including the Headmaster and members of staff as well as students, to perform in the Birley Centre.

Eddie Pitman, Year 13 Pennell, for his help and support for the charity revue including raising money for charity by recording and selling a CD of the band; to Lucy Brown (Year 13 Arnold) who offered practical help and support to Thivya leading up to the revue and to Adam Howard (Year 11 Craig) who encouraged Thivya not to give up when the going seemed to be getting tough and was on hand to help her at all times.

Nikolai Goebel, Dan Gulyansky and Will McNeilly, all Year 12 Wargrave, for helping an elderly gentleman after he had fallen; being caring, being kind, being thoughtful and making sure he got home safely.

Samantha Adelstein (Year 12, Nugent) for her exemplary work, effort and attitude as a textiles scholar and for making the most of every opportunity that comes her way.  She has entered several competitions, arranged work experience and participated in other areas of school life with a high level of enthusiasm and effort – both academic and co-curricular.  Well done on an impressive term.

James Tomlinson (Year 12, Powell) and Aidan Tam (Year 12, Pennell) who were excellent ambassadors for the College, when they performed for the St Andrew’s pre-prep assembly. They spoke brilliantly with the children, performed their short pieces and then joined in the small ensemble performance of Shine Jesus Shine with Mr Holmes and Mr Jordan. The pupils loved it.  That evening, both were on show again in the Ensembles concert playing and singing in a number of groups to an extremely high standard. A busy day for them!
