Medals galore!

The Eastbourne College athletics team returned form the recent Sussex Schools Athletics Championships with a very impressive haul of medals – five golds, six silvers and three bronzes!

In the junior girls’ section Sussex multi-event champion Issey Siggs claimed gold in the 4x100m and the College relay team won two of their three relays. At intermediate level Rosie Down achieved a fine bronze medal in the 200m and Katherine Williams surprised herself by a winning a bronze in the javelin event. The College intermediate relay team won their event. In the senior girls’ section Maddy Mann took gold in the 200m and a silver in the 100m.

The Eastbourne boys also produced some excellent results with junior pupils Louis Wood receiving a bronze in the 300m and Martin Chow securing a bronze in the 80m hurdles. The senior boys showed their all-round abilities with triathlete Luke Howard enjoying a classic battle with Harry Lelu in the 3,000m – the highlight race of the day. James Potter won the 200m by one second – a major achievement in a sprint race.

To finish the day in style, the versatile Eastbourne College team of Frankie Farrell, Matt Ginno, Connor Hughes and James Potter claimed silver in the 4x 100m.
