On Friday 4 March the Eastbourne College 1st XI girls played in the National Final of the Smile Travel Group Independent Schools Hockey Cup (ISHC) against Millfield School.
The Eastbourne squad played quite brilliantly throughout and led the game twice having dominated Millfield in the opening twenty minutes. The second goal, which began on the Eastbourne baseline and consisted of just three passes and a first time shot, was an exceptional piece of team hockey. Unfortunately after extra time Millfield won 3–1 on flicks despite a valiant effort from the girls.
The College is extremely proud of the squad for having reached a final on the national stage and the manner in which they played. They have been an exceptional squad this year and have just one last match to play – the Sussex County U19 Final on Friday 11 March at Hurstpierpoint College. Having won this title last year the girls will be very keen to retain it.
