Five members of the Eastbourne College Small Bore Shooting Team recently completed Round 1 of the Sussex County Small Bore Rifle Association Juniors Competition for the Sutton Vase and Juniors Trophy. The team members were Elias Brown (Year 11 Powell), Peter Dickinson (Year 11 Pennell), Tom Morris (Year 9 Reeves), Peva Picard (Year 11 Reeves), Will Reeves (Year 9 Gonville) and Max Woolmer (Year 9 Reeves).

The standard was very high and Captain of Shooting, Elias Brown scored 188 out of a possible 200 to be placed joint 4th in the round. He will now progress to the second round. All other team members shot very well against club teams from across Sussex and all would have qualified to go through to the next round had they shot against last year’s standards.

Some of the boys are awaiting the results of a second competition – the Horrill Trophy, to be announced soon

Year 10 pupil, Oliver Williams (Reeves) who is a member of the Eastbourne Rifle Club also took part in the competition. He scored 183 out of 200 to be placed joint 5th in Round 1 and now progresses to the second round. He is currently lying in 3rd place in the Minors category (under 15 on 31 December 2015).
