Young artists visit the College

On Thursday 8 November nineteen Year 7 pupils from Rose Hill Prep School took part in an art activity day at the College. For one of the girls it was a particularly special event as it coincided with her twelfth birthday.

The children and their teachers had lunch in the College dining hall before walking the short distance to the renowned Towner Art Gallery, where they enjoyed a tour of the art on display and had the opportunity to do some sketching.

On their return to the College they took part in a ceramics workshop led by Jayne Harriott, Acting Head of Art. The children had a marvellous time cutting and shaping clay to produce shoes of all types. Some chose to fashion high heels, while others created training shoes and boots. Their finished items will be fired and painted at the College before being returned to Rose Hill where they will feature in a school display.

As the day drew to a close, the birthday girl was delighted to receive a pink and white birthday cake provided by the College catering department. A fitting end to a most enjoyable day!
