A Celebration of Achievement at Eastbourne College Speech Day

Pupils, staff, parents and governors gathered for Eastbourne College Speech Day to celebrate the achievements of the past year and bid farewell to the Year 13 leavers as they prepare for the next stage of their journeys.

The College community came together at the Congress Theatre for a memorable occasion marked by prize giving, music and reflection on another successful year.

Head of School Poppy and Deputy Head of School William delivered thoughtful speeches reflecting on their time at Eastbourne College, while Headmaster Tom Lawson also addressed the audience in a thought-provoking speech.

Prize winners were recognised across a wide range of academic, sporting, creative and co-curricular disciplines, highlighting the talent, commitment and character of Eastbournians.

The occasion also provided an opportunity to acknowledge members of staff moving on from the College, including Anthony Lamb, whose contribution over many years has been greatly valued.

As another academic year draws to a close, Speech Day offered a fitting opportunity to reflect on all that has been achieved and celebrate the people who make Eastbourne College such a special place.

Following the ceremony, pupils, parents and staff gathered on College Field for House drinks and cricket. This year’s festivities included a notable milestone in the College’s history, as a girls’ team played a 50-ball match on Speech Day for the first time. It was a wonderful occasion and a fitting landmark for the continued growth of girls’ cricket at the College.

Congratulations to all prize winners and best wishes to our leavers as they begin their next chapters.
