Further Education evening with Dr Gary Stidder
The PE department were honoured to welcome Principal Lecturer Dr Gary Stidder from the University of Brighton.
Dr Stidder, who recently received the Honoured Members Award by the Association for Physical Education, led a carousel of talks for a group of Year 10 pupils from the Eastbourne Schools Partnership, identifying pathways in sport for further education.
Students from Brighton University joined him and led talks on Physical Education, Sport and Exercise Science, Sport Business Management, Sports Nutrition, Sports Management and Sports Journalism.
Dr Stidder and his students made the pupils aware of university life and what modules are available to them as undergraduates of these specific degree courses. He also brought them up to date with the latest research and talked about how sport scientists are leading the way in utilising contemporary and cutting-edge technology to measure and aid performance. The talks were well received and inspiring for those who may not have considered sport as an academic pathway to university.
