24-hour bikeathon

Between 5pm on Saturday 27 and 5pm on Sunday 28 February, the girls and staff of Nugent House completed a 24-hour charity bike ride to raise money for Cancer Research.

Deputy Head of House Nadya Boboshko, set the wheels in motion, and each girl in the house completed a 20-minute session. The riders were ably supported by their housemates, families and various staff members throughout the 24-hour endurance event.

A particular mention must go to Year 9 and Year 12 girls who took on the rather unsociable slots between 3am and 6am on Sunday morning. This followed some rather interesting late- night dancing and cheerleading from Year 13!

Head of House Georgie Moore cycled for the last 20 minutes and covered a very creditable 6.3 miles, bringing the final distance cycled to an impressive 330 miles.

Year 13 averaged the fastest speeds, followed by Year 9. Ella Hemming, Izzy McIntosh, Lizzie Turner, Nicole Wallbridge Bourmistrova and Georgie Moore were the fastest in each year group.  Impressive times were also recorded by Anna Cope, Augusta King, Scarlett Scotland and Hermione Wohlrab. This impressive 24 hours of effort, teamwork and camaraderie was superbly organised by Resident House Tutor Mrs Whiddett-Adams.

The house is on target to raise £1400 for Cancer Research – a charity close to the hearts of many of the pupils and staff involved. If you would like to donate to this very worthwhile cause, please use the following link:
