Eastbourne College Is Highly Commended in 2025 Muddy Stilettos School Awards

Eastbourne College is delighted to have been Highly Commended in the Prepared for Life category of the prestigious Muddy Stilettos School Awards 2025, in association with Debrett’s Education.

This national accolade recognises the College’s pioneering Futures Programme, which places skills development at the heart of Sixth Form life – preparing pupils for academic success and the demands and complexities of life beyond school. Results from the programme speak volumes: over two years, 518 pupils have recorded nearly 2,900 skill reflections, 75 pupils have demonstrated all ten core skills, and over 200 parents have joined the school’s Unifrog community to engage with the programme.

At the core of the Futures Programme is a digital tracking and reflection system, that allows pupils to map their development across ten key life skills. Using tools like Unifrog and structured reflection models (such as STAR and CAR), six form pupils take ownership of their growth inside and outside the classroom.

“The Futures Programme has created a culture of reflection and self-discovery,” said Sarah Gordon, Head of Futures. “It enables pupils to identify their strengths, understand how those strengths translate across different environments and, ultimately enables them to leave us with excellent grades and a toolkit of real-world skills as well as resilience to thrive.”

This recognition adds to a growing list of accolades and recognition for Eastbourne College, including the Talk Education Inspiring Sporting Activities Award, Platinum Artsmark, Tatler’s Top Eco Warrior School  and Muddy Stiletto’s Most Inclusive School.
