Chinese New Year 2013
Sunday 10 February was a very special day for the Chinese Speaking Society at Eastbourne College – the occasion to celebrate the Chinese New Year together, as the Year of the Dragon became the Year of Snake. Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal provided by Mr Haus which concluded with an introduction to an interesting new dessert – Bubble Tea!
As College tradition dictates, the opening and closing speeches were delivered in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. After dinner, the guests enjoyed a stunning martial arts display and a performance of the traditional Lion Dance.
Everyone agreed that it had been a memorable occasion and are already looking forward to next year’s Chinese New Year Dinner to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Horse.
