Early Music Composer Award

Year 13 pupil and music scholar, James Tomlinson, has been selected as a finalist in the National Centre for Early Music Young Composers Award 2017. 

He has composed a sacred piece for a cappella SSATB choir to the text ‘Salve Regina’, which will be performed by the Ebor Singers in York on Thursday 11th May at 7:30pm.

The shortlist of entries will be judged during the performance and the winners will be announced shortly after the concert. The performance will be live-streamed on the webpage www.ncem.co.uk/composersaward2017

The two winning works will be premiered by the Tallis Scholars in a concert at The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester on Saturday 16 September. This concert will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3's Early Music Show. More information can be found at www.ncem.co.uk/composersaward2017 .
