Prep Schools’ U12 Rugby Tournament

On Monday 12 November, despite very wet and windy weather, boys from four prep schools enjoyed a full day of rugby coaching and competitive matches at the College.

The day commenced with a series of rugby coaching sessions on College Field. These were delivered by Robin Giles, Head of Rugby at Eastbourne College, and his team of coaches. The participating boys thoroughly enjoyed this introduction to some new skills.

After lunch in the College dining hall, the players gathered at the Memorial pitches to compete in the annual Eastbourne College U12 Rugby Tournament. The four schools that took part were Bede’s, St. Andrew’s, Saint Ronan’s and Vinehall.

The teams all played well, with players and coaches fully committed to every match. At the end of the tournament, the St Andrew’s team carried off the winners’ trophy for the second year in succession. Bede’s took the runners-up medals, with Vinehall receiving the Team Fair Play award. The Player of the Tournament was Alastair Orr from Bede’s and the Most Improved Player was Archie Butler-Gallie from Saint Ronan’s.

Parents and supporters were invited to watch the training session and the tournament. At lunch time they enjoyed a delicious complimentary buffet courtesy of the College catering department.
