Speech Day 2017
On Saturday 1 July the whole College community enjoyed a day of celebration at Speech Day 2017.
The celebrations started with a full-school event in St. Saviour’s Church, Eastbourne where pupils were joined by parents of choristers and Year 13 pupils to enjoy an uplifting service. The choir was superb and the singing by the rest of the College was truly impressive.
After visitors had enjoyed coffee and pastries, Year 13 leavers joined parents from all year groups for Speech Day presentations by departing Heads of School, Katya Goodwin and Walter Huchu, followed by addresses by Mr Philip Broadley, new Chairman of Governors and Headmaster Mr Tom Lawson. This was the occasion to celebrate the success of Year 13 pupils and the presentation of academic prizes.
On conclusion of the formal proceedings, pupil and parents gathered in house groups on College Field to enjoy celebratory drinks and family picnics, followed by a cricket match.
Musical entertainment was provided by pupils from the balcony of the new cricket pavilion and there was an opportunity to view various creative arts exhibitions during the afternoon.
