Runners up for Regional Company of the Year

Huge congratulations to team Unum who finished runners up in the Young Enterprise Regional Company of the Year 2019. They also won the award for best presentation for the third final in a row! As this is the  first year that the College has entered the Young Enterprise programme, this is an outstanding achievement by all pupils involved. They still have some leftover stock, so visit their award-winning website to find out more about them and their fantastic products: www.unumjewellery.com

Since Unum was set up, the pupils have gone above and beyond in all aspects of business for a school-level project, and this has been key in their successful journey. Unum has traded in school at parents evenings and lunchtimes, and their high number of sales has also led to better innovation of their products and supplied them with the ability to grow.

Their first sale to the general public at the Beacon Centre, Eastbourne went really well. They successfully made £382.17, won the Best Trade Stand award and received helpful feedback to innovate new products and ideas  the following weeks. On top of this the pupils’ selling techniques and confidence improved dramatically.

After their first public trade, they reached the Eastbourne and Wealden Finals, where they came away with five awards out of the potential eight: Best Presentation, Best Branding, Best Website, a highly commended Young Achiever award and, most impressively, Best Company of the Year for Eastbourne and Wealden. Success continued for the team at the County Finals back in May, where they won Best Customer Service, Best Team Work and Best Sussex Young Enterprise Company of the Year.   Perhaps we will see them on The Apprentice in the future?

The help and support they received from the Business department has been invaluable. Well done to all.
