Washington Trip 2024

Just days before the U.S. presidential election, 36 students traveled to Washington, D.C. for a six-day trip that gave them an in-depth look at the country’s political systems and rich history. Led by the Heads of Politics and History, the group had the opportunity to explore key landmarks and institutions.

The students kicked off their trip with a guided tour of the U.S. Capitol and a lecture at the Supreme Court, gaining insight into the legislative and judicial branches of the U.S. government. They also visited the National Archives, where they saw important historical documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. A visit to Arlington National Cemetery provided a somber moment of reflection, while a tour of the Gettysburg Battlefields gave them a deeper understanding of the Civil War’s impact on the nation.

In addition to the educational experiences, there was plenty of free time to explore the city. The students enjoyed sightseeing, shopping, and even attended an exciting Washington Wizards vs. Boston Celtics NBA game—and by all accounts, it was a lively atmosphere.

Overall, the trip was a great blend of learning and leisure, offering the students a unique perspective on American politics and history.
