Best hockey in Sussex
On Monday 7 October, the Eastbourne College girls won the 2013 Sussex County U16 Hockey Championship beating Ardingly College 1–0 in a high quality final.
The College won the tournament without conceding a goal – an extremely impressive feat, and the whole team played excellent hockey throughout the day.
In the final, Eastbourne applied pressure to their opponents throughout the first half and created many chances to score but failed to convert these opportiunities to goals. Ardingly, who were always dangerous on the break, had a very good spell of play after half-time but the Eastbourne defence responded well. It was fitting that the final was settled with an excellent ‘end-to-end’ attacking move from Eastbourne.
