Leadership in Action: LAPD Pupils Take to the Hills
Lower Sixth pupils from Eastbourne College have been out on their training expedition as part of the LAPD (Leadership Awards and Personal Development) programme, working towards their qualification as Lowland Expedition Leaders. The programme, designed to nurture leadership, resilience, and teamwork, offers pupils a unique opportunity to develop practical skills in real-world settings. Under clear blue skies and in stunning natural surroundings, pupils navigated through lowland terrain, putting into practice their map reading, route planning, and group management skills. This hands-on experience is a vital component of their training, preparing them not only for the final assessment but also for future leadership roles both in and beyond school. The expedition perfectly captured the spirit of “blue sky learning,” combining outdoor education with personal growth. It was inspiring to see pupils rise to the challenge with enthusiasm and determination, embracing every opportunity to learn, lead, and support one another along the way.
