The role of independent schools

Last week at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton, motions were passed to abolish private schools (integrating them into the state sector) by way of appropriating independent school assets, removing their charitable status and imposing a seven per cent cap on private school pupil entry to universities.

As the 150th anniversary Headmasters and Headmistresses Conference (HMC) Autumn Conference 2019 gets underway this week, BBC Radio Sussex’s Danny Pike talks to Eastbourne College Headmaster, Tom Lawson and Labour MP for Brighton Kemptown, Lloyd Russell-Moyle, to discuss the role of independent schools in educating Britain.
